Friends of Otterham School (PTA)

Hello All,

The Spring Term has nearly finished, it seems to have flown by, the Friends have had a rather quiet few months, but we have been planning ahead.   We hope that all the children will enjoy the Easter cookery classes with Miss Forbes and Mrs Culver and look forward to seeing the Easter creations.  The Friends have funded your cookery ingredients.

Our joint Sports Relief 2017 and Friends, now annual sponsored walk has just taken place, and the children walked from School to Boscastle, thank you for sponsoring your child or children and well done all, we hope you enjoyed the ice lollies.

A Bag2School collection has been arranged for Monday 8th May 2017.  The Bag2School bags will be sent home before the Easter holidays, just in time for a holiday clear out and a chance to hopefully banish the winter woollies.  Please note that all items must be clean, wearable or recyclable, no household linen.

The Smartie Bob a Job will also take place next term, so parents and carers remember to leave some jobs for the children to do in return for a few pennies to refill the Smartie tube. Filled tubes will then be returned to school and added to the Friends fundraising pot.

Magic Martin has already been booked to entertain the whole school again this Christmas, we had to book early to avoid last day of term disappointment.  The long jump pit is still work in progress but it will be ready for when the sun comes out.  All classes within school have been offered £100:00 to spend on their class libraries or, on whatever the class chooses.  School has already made arrangements for the netball court and number snake to be marked on the playground, and have also been offered trip transport funding and outdoor play equipment.

We thank you for your continued support, our Christmas Fayre at the end of last term raised £440:00.

We are small in number mainly mums, (dads helping when needed) who over many years have worked hard raising funds to enhance the opportunities for all of the children at school and the school as a whole.  We fundraise with direction from Staff and Governors enabling the whole school to benefit.  With recent school funding cuts our fundraising will become more important than ever.  We would love for you to come and join us and bring some new ideas and enthusiasm.  We are all working parents who struggle to fit everything in, we do not ask for a huge amount of your time, but would be very grateful to you for an hour or so here and there with a certain amount of setting up and tidying up thrown in when necessary.

If you would like to find out more or have some ideas, please speak with Mrs Ward or join us at our next meeting if you can, (date to be confirmed, watch out for the poster call up and text messages), all welcome including children.  The minutes of our recent meeting will be added to the school website.

Thank you, we look forward to seeing you.
